Fire Prevention, Inspection, and Public Education

Welcome to the Fire Prevention Division of Miami Township Fire-Rescue. Our mission is to reduce the risk of fire in our community through proactive inspections, code compliance, public education, and safety outreach. We work closely with residents, businesses, contractors, and schools to create a safer environment for everyone.

  • Annual Business Inspections – Routine inspections to maintain compliance and safety 
  • New Construction & Remodeling Inspections – Verifying fire safety systems during building or renovation 
  • Plan Reviews – Reviewing construction documents for code compliance 
  • Special Event Inspections – Ensuring temporary events meet fire and life safety standards 
  • Occupancy Inspections – Required before a business opens its doors

Permits are typically required for new construction, major renovations, fire alarm systems, sprinklers, and commercial hood installations. Contact us for specifics. 

Most commercial occupancies are inspected annually. Certain high-risk occupancies may be inspected more frequently. 

We provide written guidance on what needs to be corrected and a reasonable timeline for compliance. Re-inspections are scheduled as needed.
